I've always loved being able to create new projects and share my ideas with others. I'm a proud educator and believe education is always lifelong. As a first generation Canadian, I am always fascinated with my cultural roots and how my parents lived back home. Being an Assyrian will always be who I am as an artist, wife and inspiration to others.
My artworks are inspired by my love for my culture, family and challenges I try to overcome. My painting style is abstract with hints of layers of linework and mixed media textures. I love exploring different mediums and am always trying to learn different techniques. My love for printmaking began during my undergrad at the University of Windsor. I experimented with intaglio printmaking and currently am creating linocuts.
You're going to be a cool older sis who still loves the colour red and is obsessed with Pikachu. You'll pursue your dream of teaching Visual Arts and you'll love it. Your hubby will teach you how to fish and you'll end up being better than he is... ok not exactly better but pretty good!
'July 1st Birthdays'
Acrylic on canvas
24x18 inches
This was completed on Canada Day (July 1st). This day also happens to be MANY of Assyrians birthdays. Happy Canada day/birthday to all!
During my undergrad at the University of Windsor, I focused on the sewing machine as my inspiration for printmaking. I loved the textures, line work and values that were created by printing. The sewing machine is a representation of my mother's love for sewing. These prints were created during my undergrad/recently.
